A few guide points when interacting with humans (and especially when listening to politicians and the internet):
#1. Respect identity.
Let people be who they choose to be; let a person define *themselves*. It’s their life.
#2. Demand accountability (Be accountable).
Is a minority group with no say in society taking all the blame? Is the blame placed on immutable natural characteristics of humanity? How convenient.
#3. Presume competency.
Being different does not equal being meaningless or worthless or incapable.
#4. Presume innocence.
Being different does not equal being criminally deviant, wicked, or evil.
#5. Be kind, be kind, be kind.
This is essential both to you and to everyone you ever meet.
